After fundraising to be able to buy parts for this project, I was able to build this open-source 3D printer. This project was intriguing because it is not only a perfect example of mechatronics, but 3D printers are a useful tool for prototyping parts for other projects. Once completed, this was used to print parts for other projects, including brackets and miscellaneous items that require custom manufacturing. This 3D printer, in conjunction with CAD, provided the capability of rapid prototyping and quick part turnaround.
